This was a really fun project to work on with the team at Enthusiast Games. They are developing a FPS with some really cool game mechanics that allow the player to change gravity directions. The use of symmetry was important to help the player orient themselves quickly. By mirroring design elements on a major axis and then varying them on the other, the players can orient themselves faster through pattern association.

Public shopping spaces line walkways with buildings above.  The building facades stack vertically with housing boxes extruding into the public space.  These same facades are also walkable public zones for the occupants of another gravity orientation.  Symmetry is used here again to assist the player with their orientation.
